About This Temple

One of the Chota Char Dham, marking the point where the Bhagirathi river (source stream of the Ganges) descends from the Gangotri Glacier.

History & Significance

Built in the early 18th century by the Gorkha general Amar Singh Thapa; a major pilgrimage site especially during the summer months.
