About This Temple

A major pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, set deep in a forest hill shrine reached by a trek through the Periyar reserve.

Pilgrims traditionally observe a 41-day vratham (vow) of austerity before the trek, a practice believed to be centuries old.

Mainly open during Mandala-Makaravilakku season (mid-Nov to mid-Jan) and monthly first-five days
